Functional Safety

ISO 26262 is an ISO standard for safety-relevant electrical / electronic systems in motor vehicles. It defines an action model that includes required activities and work products as well as applicable methods for development and production.

The implementation of the standard is intended to ensure the functional safety of a system with electrical / electronic components in the motor vehicle. The focus of the standard are vehicles up to 3500 kg total weight. The application of the standard is voluntary, but in practice, more and more automotive manufacturers are demanding its application from their suppliers.

ISO 26262 consists of ten parts covering the following contents:
